The original string parts have been voiced for reeds, in a manner familiar to Riddle from his early days with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra, when he wrote parts played by the woodwinds in the absence of strings. The young vocalist Bryan Anthony, an alumnus of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, joins the Riddle crew for a salute to Sinatra, singing mostly stuff Sinatra and Nelson recorded in the '50s and '60s ("I've Got You Under My Skin," "Night and Day," "Summer Wind"). On Sunday, he brings the band to the sunny shores of the Russian River, where the two-day bacchanal called Jazz on the River offers its best lineup in years.
